My pooch Nelson, is a pedigree Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, show quality mature stud, and available for mating in Metropolitan Perth. Nelson is a top sire, with peak health, and renowned for his excellent temperament and gentle behaviour. Nelson certainly is well groomed for his stud duties. He is a true performer, and has achieved a high success rate on mating bitches. Our services offer assistance in understanding the mating process, awareness of the Bitch mating cycle, and ovulation timing in the bitch if required. Click here to view dog cycle reference chart.
Nelson's ancestry originates and is sustained with, a line of outstanding high quality bred Cavaliers. He is reared from a line of high achievers in the show arena, with such accolades as: 10 x Australian Champions, 1 x Australian Grand Champion, 1 x Western Australian State Champion. Personally, I am not the competitive type, and had no desire to groom Nelson for the show arena. Having such a fantastic gene pool is a gift, and I am happy to share Nelson with the domestic owners of females that require a top bred stud for their healthy bitches.
Cavs are undoubtedly always in great demand. Burke’s Backyard has often featured Cavaliers on TV, due to the breed's renowned popularity, great qualities and being such an ideal companion. Click here to read more about the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Also featured on Burke's Backyard is the successful cross breeding of Cavaliers with other fine small dog breeds such as Maltese Terriers, Cocker Spaniels, Poodles, Bichon’s, Pugs and Shitsu. These breeds' combinations have proved to be delightful, successful mixes, in demand and very popular. The offspring of two different pure breeds is called 'Hybrid Vigour' - meaning the amalgamation of the positive features of both parent's breed, reducing or eliminating the inheritance of certain less desired characteristics.
I am truly delighted when I hear great heartfelt stories of dog owners blessed with the love of their pets, and their gratitude of Nelson’s contribution to this is a joy. In good faith, I will continue to be selective with any prospective matings, so that litters are blessed with wonderful owners and loving home environments.
Nelson truly is a great little dog and is full of love. I just love him to bits! His galleries above and below, reflect the important role he plays in my home as a very dear companion. His canine sister, Brei, is also pictured with us above (and featured centre).

Here you will find photos of some of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel litters that Nelson has sired, and their mums.
In 2006, Nelson had a mating which produced a record litter total of 9 (see photos below)! Their owners, Rod and Melanie Williams (see testimonials below) were thrilled with the fantastic result and Mum and puppies are all very healthy and happy.

Artificial insemination (A.I.) is a service I offer to the cross breeding enthusiasts who would like to incorporate Nelson's great gene pool in their litters.
Artificial insemination is performed by a highly qualified local breeder, at their Veterinary clinic. The A.I. procedure costs an extra $30 - $60 on top of the cross breed service fee (outlined in the Agreement). If blood tests are required, they incur a further $30 fee. Blood tests provide a reliable reading of Progesterone levels (nmol/L) in the bitch. Progesterone is produced and released in increasing amounts by the ovary before, during and after ovulation. Fertilisation can occur 24-72 hours after ovulation.

"We would like to thank Sue for her help and expertise with the mating of our cavalier Gypsy, with Sue's boy Nelson. This was our first attempt at mating and Sue's experience proved invaluable. She was very helpful not only with picking the appropriate time for mating but also with providing information regarding Gypsy's care during pregnancy and what to do/expect during the birth and for the care of the puppies. Gypsy is small for her breed and her mother had a litter of 3 when Gypsy was born so we were not expecting a large litter. There was 1 mating which produced a litter of 3 beautiful puppies who are now 2 weeks old. We would be happy to use Sue and Nelson again.

"Firstly I would like to thank Sue for giving us the opportunity to mate our Maltese X Cavalier 'Mocha' , and for your vast knowledge of the process and the ease with which it all took place. Previous attempts with others resulted in a waste of time and missed opportunities in the past mainly due to our lack of knowledge and poor choice in sires. This brings me to Nelson who is a marvelous looking dog with a wonderful temperament who obviously enjoys his profession :) On this I congratulate you Sue, for all you knowledge, flexibility, and assistance. This litter, born mid December 2005, produced six absolutely beautiful puppies which have brought us all so much joy.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Sue and Nelson to anybody who is looking to mate their female, experienced or not.
Sue will support and guide you through the whole process with total ease and compassion.
Regards
Rod and Melanie Williams."

"I would like to compliment Sue and her beautiful sire Nelson. We are grateful for the wonderful opportunity they provided to us in the mating (artificial insemination) with our female Spoodle, Honey, in August 2005. Nelson is a handsome boy with a gentle nature and a very fine example of a Cavalier.
It was an interesting and educational process that was made comfortable by Sue’s helpfulness and flexibility. Our female Spoodle Honey, was an inexperienced female, a slight size difference made a dash to the Vet a necessity for an A.I. Sue’s previous knowledge of this process made this possible and was an inexpensive and productive exercise which resulted in seven healthy puppies (four females and three males). As a testimonial ALL of the puppies were snapped up by people we knew before we could even advertise. Sue also referred one buyer to us.
I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Sue & Nelson, and her service, which has been a great and successful experience for us.
